Hot-Line Maintenance

   

Hot maintenance is the process of working with live lines. There are two method of hot maintenance carried out.

·         Hot Stick Method – Maintanance works are done using highly insulated sticks without overstepping minimum clearance distance from live parts.

·         Bare Hand Method − this is the method of HLM keeping the linemen on energized line with the help of insulated platform and conductive suit. In all cases the workers body is maintained at the same voltage as the line.

Safety measures are very important for hot line operations. Keeping minimum distances, wearing safety equipment’s, no fog, rain and lightning to be in the area are important. Always there is a person with the maintenance crew he was inspecting others safety and warning to workers while repairing.
